Debate and Public Speaking

Through Debate and Public Speaking, we encourage the development of a learner’s critical voice, foster an appreciation of research and build the learners confidence and communication skills.
Learners choose topics for each session, research on the topic during the course of the week and are ready to present. The evaluation criteria focuses on level of research (reading), the formation of one’s own understanding and lastly articulation.
Learners assess and grade each other and the programme facilitator adds to that. This peer grading system assists learners in developing a sense of what proper public speaking is by evaluating the flaws and also the brilliance that they might see in each other.
