Masixole Maliza – Chairperson

Sive

Masixole has been a member of Unako since 2012, has served as treasury previously, he has recently been appointed as a board member of Unako. In 2014 he was selected to attend prestigious summit of Brightest Young Minds (BYM), he worked for Liberty as a Business Development Consultant, in 2015, for which he was recognized as a top achiever in his division. He is founder of Tsenene Capital. He has a Bcom in Financial Planning (Nelson Mandela University) and Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning (NMU). He has a keen interest in financial literacy and entrepreneurship and loves reading. He writes about personal finance periodically on his Facebook page, Financial Planning with Masixole Maliza.  

 

Thandile Xani – Deputy Chairperson

Thandile is an ambitious, energetic team player who recently joined Unako in 2017 and co-steers Unako rural in the rural outskirts of the Eastern Cape. He works for R&G Consultants Group as Quantity Surveyor.

He has previously been in student residents’ leadership as a house committee member in 2008, academic mentor in 2009 and resident student assistant in 2010 and 2011. Thandile possesses a BSc in Construction Economics and BSc in Quantity Surveying (Hons) degree from the NMU.

 

Ntobeko Gxamza – Treasurer

Andiswa

Ntobeko born and raised in Port Elizabeth, studied at NMMU and has a B-Tech Degree: Cost and Management Accounting. Currently working in Humansdorp at Woodlands Dairy as a Creditors Clerk. Previously worked for Times Media Group Eastern Cape as an Accounts Assistance from the period of 02 February 2015 to 28 July 2016.

 

Unathi Fihla - Executive Member

Unathi is one of the founding members of Unako, has served as both deputy chairperson and chairperson previously. He assumed the position of Executive Member this year. He's also part of the organising team - Southern African Youth Network. Former Deputy Convener - Nelson Mandela Bay NPO District Forum.  Has worked as Research Assistant for the Centre for the Community School. He has a Btech in Public Management from Nelson Mandela Univers

 

Lusu Booi

Sive

Lusu, born and bred in Port Elizabeth. After completing his high school education, he played amateur provincial rugby for Blue Bulls and Golden Lions teams in Gauteng. He enrolled at Nelson Mandela University in 2009 where he embarked on a B.A degree. He acquired his undergraduate degree in 2011 majoring in political science and French. 
In 2012 he acquired his honours degree focusing on International Relations and Conflict Resolution. He has recently finished his research work on Latin American studies and social policy for his Masters at NMU under the topic "Millennium Development Goals: Lessons from Brazil and Venezuela (2000-2015)." He is currently an employee at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) as a Foreign Service Officer.
He is inspired by children, enjoys engaging with them and their dynamic and fresh understanding of the(ir) world. As a member of Unako since 2013, he has been able to contribute positively, especially in understanding complexities of our township communities and schools and thus can hopefully facilitate reimagining new realities and create new opportunities for them.
