Mihlali Banzana - Masibambane S.S.S Literacy Club


Mihlali was born and bred in Port Elizabeth. She’s a 4th Year Social Work Student. Lead Facilitator of the Literacy Club programme at Masibambane Senior Secondary School for 4 consecutive years.

Buvusile Manqele - Masibambane S.S.S Literacy Club


Buvusile, born in Cape Town and raised in Port Elizabeth. She did her high school years at St. Thomas S.S, where she matriculated in the year 2012. She then furthered her studies at the Nelson Mandela University, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2016, then followed suit with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (FET phase), specializing in English First Additional Language, and Life Orientation in the year 2017.

Currently, she works as an English (FAL) teacher at Walmer High school, Port Elizabeth. My love for reading as well as my love for my black community are two of many reasons why I am still part of the Unako Community Based Movement family, since 2014.

 She’s a lead facilitator at Masibambane High school. Working with learners that are eager to read, eager to expand their knowledge, recognizing and assuming their roles as critical thinkers of society is what makes her wake up every Saturday morning.


Lime Ntando - Kwazakhele H.S Literacy Club


Lime, born and bred in the Eastern Cape. Grew up in Port Alred but originally from Peddie, she’s the second born of three children and lives with both parents. She’s driven by her passion of helping those in need and child and adolescent development especially in our township and rural communities. Joining Unako allowed her the opportunity to learn, gain experience and skills to work with young people. Currently 4th year Bachelor of Social Work Student at Nelson Mandela University. Lead Facilitator at KwaZakhele High school Literacy Club.  Beside her contribution in Unako she also participates in other voluntary work in and around Port Elizabeth


Noxolela Mkosi - Kwazakhele H.S Literacy Club


Noxolela Mkosi was born in Transkei in a small town called Tsomo. She did her primary schooling at Malabar Primary School and high school in Masiphathisane. She’s doing her 4th year this year in Bachelor of Education Foundation Phase. She’s been a member of Unako since 2015 and a lead facilitator at KwaZakhele high school and she also worked for Masinyusane as a youth leader in 2017 which also teach Literacy. She first encountered Unako when she was doing grade 12 participating in the Spelling Bee Competition.


Mandisa Williams - Literacy Clubs Primary Schools

Mandisa matriculated at Newell High School and did certificate in ICT at Port Elizabeth College. She has developed communication skills working with the Children's Ministry as their leader as well as being part of the Decon's Court at her church. She's a team player who has manged to nurture successful working relationships . Working with children is her love and passion, hence she grabbed with both hands the opportunity to join Unako team. She's eager to learn and grow both personally and professionally.


Masixole Ngqondela - Literacy Clubs Primary Schools

Masixole grew up in Kwazakhele, did his primary schooling at Young Park, went to high school at Khumbulani H.S and furthered his studies at Port Elizabeth College, Qhayiya Campus doing Mechanical Engineering.


Aphiwe Bizani - Youth Development


Aphiwe was born and bred in East London. Former Chairperson of Black Lawyers Association Society at Nelson Mandela University. He’s currently doing 4th LLB (NMU). He’s content researcher in Youth Development programme with a particular focus on Representative Council of Learners.
